Following Its critical success Balloon Ranger Records are giving those of us who missed ‘It All Starts With One’ the first time around the chance to let it captivate us. From her village upbringing in Norway to busking on the sidewalks of the ramblas, and influences covering anything from jazz to folk, Ane Brun has it all on this record.

With open minimal compositions, there is room for more intricate melodies. Highlights include ‘Words’ with its subtle folk fingerpicking and strings section and the much more classical theatrical ‘One.’ But special praise must be reserved for ‘Oh Love’ ripped straight from Jeff Buckley’s songbook and finishing track ‘Undertow’ a truly unique uplifting perfect composition.

There is no denying Ane Brun’s vocal capabilities but what she has delivered is a truly mesmerising soul searching record, taking full advantage of her talents.
