Betty and the Werewolves have the unfortunate pleasure of being the last band I review in a batch of approximately ten thousand. Luckily, their B movie name and rockabilly ridiculousness is just what the doctor ordered at this strange hour of the night. Awooo!
And thank god it's them: 'Paper Thin' is just the kind of breezy indie pop tune that helps you to forget your woes, bopping along on a wave of soothing female vocals and surf guitar. Later, 'The Party' turns the stress of a panic attack into a riveting B movie sequence, while 'Heathcliff' places a dominant female boot onto the chin of its boyfriend. Who the boss? Betty the boss.
All the while, the Werewolves keep the pace going with a keen sense of time: midnight is on its way, but just maybe we can dance it off the clock. As long as I'm in the company of these charming DIY indie poppers, I'd be happy to stay up till daylight.
