Funeral Party started to create a bit of a buzz early last year with the track ‘NYC Moves to the Sound of LA’. Suitably then, it's this song which opens up their debut record - and what follows is a relentless journey into the heart of indie disco awesomeness.
If Shit Disco had punk leanings, they might have made an album like ‘The Golden Age of Nowhere’; it's first and foremost a party album, but one which takes in a hyperactive melee of cascading guitars, shouted vocals and four to the floor arse shaking hooks.
'Car Wars’ and ‘Finale’ (one of the albums gems) are irresistible and follow suit. Elsewhere ‘Just Because’, ‘Giant Song’ and the synth led ‘Postcards of Persuasion’ are all sure to be lined against the wall as daytime radio hits. Funeral Party could very well go all Vampire Weekend and explode on us at any given moment, so get your dancing shoes ready and expect to see them owning this summer's festivals.
