Illinois math-mongerers So Many Dynamos are not a simple group; their debut LP for Vagrant Records kicks off with pitch-shifting hyperspeed rock ('Artifacts Of Sound'), journeys into the hills of electro-funk ('New Bones') and concludes with a mash up of science-fiction samples and 70s disco strings ('The Formula').
The listener is kept on their toes throughout as the band trail-blaze their own brand of unpredictable party music. Beneath the experiments, they could perhaps do with an extra dose of that most simple of formulas - the catchy tune - but at least they're charting their own path, and indeed accelerating into it.
