Belgian electroinica artist Dieter Sermeus (aka The Go Find) spends his third LP whispering sweet nothings on a bed of comfy rhythms and flickering acoustics. While his voice shares much of the burden for this cosiness, the well-built instrumentation also plays its part.
His storytelling style gets a little dry on ‘Neighbourhood’ and its flabby synths don’t do him any favours. Similarly throwaway is ‘It’s Automatic’, but there are gorgeous moments of escapism to be found elsewhere; ‘One Hundred Percent’ finds Sermeus being joined by the female vocalist Karo, and their voices harmonise over liquid basslines.
Otherwise it’s an unashamedly uncomplicated affair, with no shards sticking out musically. If this all sounds a bit polite, that’s primarily because you shouldn’t kick those with dangerously gooey hearts on their sleeves.
