On reading an album title called The Savage Heart the initial feeling may be 'oh no not another sad tale of twisted romance and lost loves'. On the contrary, 'The Savage Heart' by The Jim Jones Revue is a name stimulated by recent events within our society. A quote from Jim Jones reveals: “We got to thinking how thin the veneer of civilization is, and how quickly it comes away to reveal the brutality of man. There’s this savage undercurrent in all of us and it’s amazing how quickly we revert to that” speaking in regards to the London riots and recession.

Despite the strength of the message The Jim Jones Revue are most definitely still 'Burning The House Down', producing an album which has moved away from the up tempo boogie woogie of Little Richard and Duke of Earl into the mellowed down, blues driven guitar sounds of Led Zeppelin, backed up by ominous low key piano notes and those classic raspy vocals.

The 'Savage Heart' is witnesses to a fantastic collaboration with Midnight Oceans, has proven that The Jim Jones Revue are not just a one tracked pony. They’ve ‘got range’ and are able to incorporate a vast degree of musical influence into one unique sound. Which is far removed from any other modern artist, effectively making them leaders of the pack. The Savage Heart to be released October 15 and is definitely a winner and an unexpected treat for this Jim Jones Revue fan.
