There's something really boring about The Vaccines. “I'm in a bad mood, a bad bad mood” they sing on, er, 'Bad Mood'. And so am I. Despite all the driving drum lines and punk-y, Undertones-esque guitar riffs, 'Come Of Age' just never grips you. They lazily experiment between varying different genres without ever mastering any of them, not only does this make the album confusing but also makes it hard to believe they actually know what they're doing with any conviction. No Hope is as close as they get to writing a 'toone' without just sounding like, ultimately, a lot and very little all at once.
