It's a very weird feeling to see songs by Three Trapped Tigers with actual names attached to them. Their previous EPs had all been numbered and ordered chronologically, but on their long-awaited debut record there are actual real words, like 'Drebin', 'Reset' and 'Magne'.

Enough of this meandering through, because 'Route One Or Die' is simply something else in the sound department. The 42 minutes of free-flowing noise on offer here feels impossible to pigeonhole - a note which will undoubtedly please them - however if I was to try, imagine the sound of 65daysofstatic as performed by three men with improv jazz backgrounds, and you're halfway there.

Highlights include 'Cramm', which starts off in the most haywire of ways before settling into its groove, while 'Creepies' offers up synths that bubble away ferociously in the background, while the drums clatter and the guitars menace.

Thinking this all sounds a bit post-rock? It's honestly nothing of the sort; the inventiveness on show here is far better than most bands of that genre combined. Hearing rock music this exhilarating is a rare treat indeed.
