Ah for the days of Wendy & Bonnie, when folk music was pure! Woe for the days of The Poppy Family, when folk music was lucid and mystical! Sigh for the days of... er... oh, hang on. What's this?
Husband and wife duo Trevor and Hannah-Lou sound like a classic folk band from the oft-forgotten days of the early 70s underground. Not that I'm a professor on the subject or anything (indeed, my education stretches to the excellent Folk is Not a Four Letter Word records put out by Andy Votel and my parents' Fairport Convention vinyls).
This does, however, sound like the real thing: 'England' is patiently melancholic, 'Heaven Knows' gives honesty to sexual intimacy, and closer 'Some Dreaming To Do' sounds like the harvest itself coming in to bloom. Speaking of which, if you buy the album you get a free packet of seeds (produce unknown, unfortunately). Artrocker digs folk album shocker? I'm afraid so.
