(Kitsune)

Apparantly a baby has been born in the household of the French record label Kitsune, and it's googly woogly presence has inspired the team to seek a more mellow approach for this, the latest instalment of their excellent compilations.
The vibe-o-meter is set to summery electronica for Penguin Prison, who give us the naive and chirpy 'Animal Animal'. The digitized acoustic guitars and slightly ubercool approach of Jamaica leaves me cold on 'Short and Entertaining', but things are recaptured by Crookers from Italy, who dip some humour into their mellow electro-soup.
Artrocker faves Two Door Cinema Club are sucked into the digital vortex for a remix by The Twelves of 'Something Good Can Work', resulting in a pretty listen (although I far prefer the original). The highlight instead comes with Iceland duo Felberg, whose 'Dreaming' rolls around in its own boy/girl romantic luxury, a song that's both intimate and toe tapping. They're Iceland's answer to Slow Club presumably - and they're utterly delightful.
