I think the rule of thumb when considering the name of a band is not to read too much into it. But with a name here like White Bone Rattle, and presented with an album recorded in an abandoned psychiatric hospital you naturally want to hear something quite ominous and mentally stimulating. ‘Creature of Curiosity’ is a brilliant psychedelic explosion emitting both euphoric and ethereal tendencies reminiscent of bands like Tame Impala, The Black Keys, and late 80s band Toadies. Though what makes the sound stand out is the riff heavy undertone of Sabbath which encompasses elements of blues, and lays the framework for sludge metal which as a theme is slowly introduced as the album progresses, but in a way that is rhythmically un-pretentious and lead by a soul inspired vocal style true of 60s and 70s garage rock. Very nice.
