Farah Vintage: Autumn / Winter ‘10

Vintage will always be present in our wardrobes and it's because it allows us to be individual and creative with our appearances. The Iconic 80s were a decade of social unrest, a time when the people needed to be heard, and a young generation dressed as a means of self expression. Using this a focus, Farah Vintage have made a slick maneuver in casual wear. They have redefined vintage classics whilst still listening to the past with an emphasis on quality.

Chunky knits are worn with sharp tailoring and accented with gingham prints to redefine the clean-cut preppy look. Every piece is a timeless classic and with a quality to match, it's well worth the investment.

Filed in Fashion at 15.57pm on 18 August 10
When the swinging sixties hit Carnaby Street, it was the youth market that made it. People from all over the UK came to study in the capital and the art pack found Carnaby Street. Creating their own individual style and reinventing classic looks, their influence rocked London.
The Merc Autumn Winter 2010 collection draws its inspiration from these creatives of the day. The range includes classic Merc shirting, cool outwear, knitwear to last and casuals to compliment.
Key pieces from the range include the Turpin (£60) a button through tank top, with woven pockets, available in black, navy and grey, the perfect layering piece to dress up any outfit. The Hollyrood Shirt (£55) is a long sleeve button Down Check shirt, it is slim fitting and has a button down collar, which gives it the edge in the checked shirt market.
The Winston (£60), new Sta Press straight legged trousers, are a great wardrobe staple item, available in black, navy and wine. Keep the footwear smart and stylish with Merc shoes to boot. Choose from Tassel Loafers (£95), Desert Boots (£70), Bowling Shoes (£80) or Chelsea (£95), Cuban (£95) or Beetle Boots (£95).
The Garman V-neck jumper is brought to life with its bold diamond designs. At £70 it is available in both grey and black and black with purple diamonds. Team the jumper with the long sleeved, Tonic effect Lomas shirt (£55) to complement the final look.
When it comes to outerwear, the duffle coat is back on trend in a big way for Autumn/ Winter 10. The combination of the hooded Heriot’s strap and toogle fastening, with the tartan green interior makes it stand out from the rest (£150). The Canning classic Peacoat style, (£150), is available in navelette. While the Tobias Fishtail parka (£125) returns for another season, available in khaki with a tartan interior and shouts classic Merc outerwear.
All this and more can be bought online at www.merc.com, at Merc’s legendary store on 10 Carnaby Street in London, or at over 80 other outlets throughout the UK. Merc have also recently introduced a new classic line for women which can be seen in store on on-line.
