Swinging pop sensation Caro Emerald has been making a bit of a name for herself with her new album 'Deleted Scenes From The Cutting Room Floor' reaching the top ten in the album charts. Known for her elegant 50s style, the Dutch singer has become an aspiration to many as she is not afraid of showing off her gorgeous, feminine figure in outfits of pure sophistication, topped off with classic, red lipstick. Artrocker interviewed the style icon for some fashion tips and advice!

ARTROCKER: Is fashion important to you and your image as an artist?

CARO EMERALD: Very important! I try to make a real appearance on stage by trying to think of new outfits every time. I follow the trends because I’m interested in fashion, but always adjust them to my own style. To me, fashion is a big part of my performance and music. It helps me express my feelings and reflects the vibe of my songs.

A: Has fashion been a life-long passion of yours? What interests you about it?

CE: Since I was a little girl, I’ve been very interested in clothes and make-up and the way they can enlarge my personality. The right clothes really make a woman feel invincible. But I don’t consider myself as a real fashion victim. At least, not yet..

A: How would you describe your personal style?

CE:Classy, feminine but with an attitude and a touch of vintage.

A: Who would you describe as your style icon?

CE: That’s hard to decide.. I love all the style icons from the old hollywood glamour days (40’s & 50’s), for example Grace Kelly.

A: Where are you favourite places to shop?

CE: I love Karen Millen and French Connection. But I have to admit I don’t pay attention to brands too much. Good items can be found anywhere. London is the best city to shop! I like vintage stores, but I also dig River Island and Topshop. London has so much to offer, I love the little boutiques.

A: Favourite design houses?

CE: Mark Jacobs and Chanel! Some collections of Louis Vuitton are great. Carolina Herrera is amazing as well. And I really love the classic, feminine dresses of Valentino. I’m discovering new pieces every day.

A: Whats your staple item for the ever looming season you can't live without?

CE: I’ve just bought a real cool, striped Karen Millen bag, which will definitely join me on all my trips this summer.

A: - And finally, do you have any advice for our readers when it comes to fashion?

CE: Wear whatever makes you feel great and feminine. An outfit should make you feel invincible. And ladies, wear something that compliments your shape and be realistic about it. Fashion is an old love of mine, but also a part of my job these days. I’ve finally got a reason to be crazy with clothes!
