The Merc Spring Summer ’11 collection features influences from early 1960’s British new wave cinema where classics such as Blow up, Billy Liar and the Italian Job have played a key role in inspiring the new collection.

This summer is strong and classic. Relaxed tailoring is teamed with crisp shirts with new wave detailing; pair vintage print shirts (Dewey, £55) with classic, tailored Pea Coats (Emmerson, £125), also available in black.

Combine smart, tailored, pressed trousers, cropped to the ankle with smart brogues for a cool summer look, an ARTROCKER fave. The Winston trouser (£60) are worth the investment, these can be teamed with casual deck shoes and polo or dressed up for a smarter look, the staple of any man’s wardrobe this summer. MERC keep the outfit slick and chic with the Smith Harrington jacket and crisp white shirt.

Sharp Harrington jackets, like MERC’s Ganton checked piece, are staple wardrobe essentials, worn with knit polos and school-boy tailored shorts. Team with a pair of classic RayBans and a pair of plimsolls or boat shoes and you have your summer, new wave look. Done!
