Artrocker have an exclusive interview with The Pipettes, to talk about shopping, Chanel and Acne!

The girls' new single, 'Call Me', is out on 12th July. Check it out below! Their album 'Earth VS The Pipettes' is out 6th September.
So have you girls been inspired by any of the talent from Graduate fashion week?
Though I studied fashion as a degree I have to say that I don't really follow it all that much anymore. Now this is not to say that I don't LOVE clothes because I most certainly do. Very muchly. What I mean is that I just tend to do my own thing these days. Especially living in London where no one could give a flying monkey what you wore, I have found that your fashion sense becomes more and more a product of your environment and so you begin to think less about what you "should" be wearing and more about what you want to wear. Also, I think it's something also known as GETTING OLD!

Who are your favourite designers?
I love Martin Margiela, Richard Nicoll and Acne.
Your favourite shops? Where do you shop most?
I shop in the charity shops close to my house because, seriously, there must be some very silly blind rich people around my area... the things I have found! You will also find me around the clearance section of TK Maxx.
What is your most prized possession when it comes to your wardrobe?
This changes all the time. I have a black Acne dress which I bought in Liberty's during the sales which I'll always wear if I can't quite figure out what the eff to wear that day. I also have a Commes de Garcon jacket that I found in a charity shop which is pretty amazing too.

What is your key piece for the season?
I have a lilac/grey jacket that I've been wearing a lot. I'm sticking to a pastel pallet this season plus I'm trying super hard to look Parisian and chic... my mum tells me I look French! Result!
What's your favourite city to shop in and why?
It's got to be London really, though I'm not the most travelled person and so I'm sure I could be convinced otherwise. I just like the markets all across the city, the boutiques, the old established tailors and cobblers, department stores like Liberty's and Selfridges, old antique arcades, even if it's just window shopping.
Who is an inspirational figure to you when it comes to fashion?
Gabrielle Coco Chanel. I just love her! I'm not one for tight, short clothes, I'm much more of a flapper at heart and so looking back at her early designs, it feels so very familiar and comforting. It's that effortless femininity and grace and emphasis on style and poise. There's nothing faddy about her, she's classic. I obviously also love Karl Lagarfeld and wish to be his friend.

How would you describe your personal style?
I'm trying desperately hard to look effortless these days... the irony! Basically I'm constantly downsizing my wardrobe until eventually I have only things which I would be happy to keep forever, however it's quite difficult to part with your clothes even if they are sometimes gross!
Anything else??
Wear what ever the hell you like
