5 bands to see at Underage
Grace Brown is going down to Underage Festival this weekend and tells us who she's looking forward to seeing...
Underage Festival is the only time each year when 10,000 teenagers gather in Victoria Park for a music-filled day in the capital. With 6 stages and over 60 bands playing, all in the space of ten hours, it could be overwhelming for the first time festival goers bound to be there. But fear not, here Grace Brown tells us the top five bands to catch at Underage 2010.
Artrocker will be live tweeting from Underage 2010 so to keep up with all the action remember to follow @ArtrockerTV.

MIA.
After that video her slot’s bound to bring in the crowds. But it’s not just because of the recent media frenzy, her mixture of hip-hop and electro dancehall tunes are sure to have the crowds jumping. And even if red heads stay away there’ll still be enough there to make her set one to definitely catch.
Los Campesinos!
After the recent departure of Ollie, the bands drummer, Los Campesinos! version 3.0 are back at Underage again. With their post punk and indie pop songs LC!’s live shows explode with hyperactive energy. One of very few bands to put as much effort into their fans as their music, even if you don’t catch their show you’re sure to see them chatting with fans throughout the day.
Darwin Deez.
Synchronised dancing is a regular feature of Darwin Deez’s set and when this is combined with his catch pop songs it makes an un-missable set for the summer. Sounding like a popped up version of The Strokes with perfect sing along songs, it’s probably going to be one of the most fun shows of the day.
Crystal Castles
If Darwin Deez is one of the most fun slots of the day, Crystal Castles are probably going to be one of the most chaotic. With their frenzied synths, drums and Alice Glass’ crazed way on stage they’re the sort you should leave your valuables with a friend for and head straight into the mosh pit.
Lightspeed Champion.
After the previous four bands a bit of Dev is what you’ll need to calm yourself down and refuel for the rest of the day. His 70’s synths and Americana folk will ensure a great chill out time. True, he doesn’t have the raw energy of the likes of LC! Or Crystal Castles, but Lightspeed Champion’s emphatic chords and choruses are sure to bring as much fun as the more active bands.
