Jukebox Chatter: Boy Friend
Boy Friend release their debut album 'Egyptian Wrinkle' in Feb, and now they have four questions and one jukebox credit with which to explain themselves...
Your music reminds us of the surreal, upside down staircase, floaty bits in Labyrinth. What movie would you choose to have it soundtrack?
Christa: Return to Oz, Antonioni's L'Avventura or maybe a Hitchcock piece.
Sarah: The Neverending Story!!
Coming from Texas, what's your take on SXSW?
Christa: It can be pretty irritating to try to get anywhere in the city that week, and though I do feel the festival unjustly favors a lot of larger acts, it really makes no sense to fight it. There's so much going on, it's kind of a shame to not partake.
Sarah: Definitely a love/hate relationship. The traffic is unbearable, but there is never a dull moment.
Egyptian Wrinkle by Boy Friend
What's your favourite song on Egyptian Wrinkle and why?
Christa: My fave is The False Cross. It came out exactly how we had envisioned, and the chorus still rings so clear in my head.
Sarah: I think I would have to say Egyptian Wrinkle. I think its sort of weird and powerful all at once.
What news/current affairs story is interesting you at the moment and why?
Christa: I'm blown away by this insane cruise ship disaster. What the fuck?! Also, This American Life did a story on where Iphones are manufactured in China. Totally eye-opening/despressing to hear that, and essentially equate that to every other giant technological device Americans consume.
Sarah: Its all depressing. Except for my daily stories at cuteoverload.com.
You've got one credit on the jukebox - what's it going to be?
Sarah: Tough one! Gonna have to say Johnny Horton "North To Alaska".
