Jukebox Chatter: Submotion Orchestra
Another catch up from Soundwave 2012, this time from Submotion Orchestra as they prepare for the release of their new single, Blind Spot’out August 13
Hiya guys, you just got back from Soundwave Festival, how was it for you?
Amazing! We LOVE Soundwave festival! Good vibes all around, it's a pleasure to perform at it. In fact last year when it was time to leave, a few band members actually shed a tear.
You have an 'actual' live performance, as some would say. Is the live element important to you?
Yes, of course. Otherwise we wouldn't be a band, we'd just be a dj making electronic music. The live performance comes from us all being on stage making live music. I think our onstage performance is what makes us stand out from the crowd.
A headline slot at the Koko just got announced, excited?
Very excited! Koko has been on our list of venues to play for a while now so we're all looking forward to playing there on October.
'Fragments' will be your second album, how do you think you've developed from 'Finest Hour'?
Most of the songs on Fragments have been collectively written by the band. Finest Hour was slightly different, as the majority of songs were brought to the band already composed, mainly by Tommy Evans (drummer). Fragments does have a slightly different vibe to the first album however. Where as 'Finest Hour' was a complete body of work, i feel Fragments is more like a collection of songs that have been brought together (hence the title 'Fragments'). We have experimented with a lot of different sounds and the album also includes some special guest features too so watch this space.
What should old fans be expecting?
Submotion round two! We've been performing most of the songs from the new album for quite a while now, so fans will be slightly familiar with them.
Finally, you've got one token in the jukebox, what's it going to be?
Such a great summer anthem.
