Preview: Towns @ Converse Represent at 100 Club
On the cusp of their show tomorrow night (August 1) at the 100 Club we sat down to have a catch up with Towns...
One of my personal favourites around at the moment, Towns are on a mission to bring back big British rock music, but without the lad tag, instead with a hint of the psychedelic in it. Ahead of their show on August 1 at the 100 Club with Converse Represent where they'll be supporting Paul Weller and Spiritualized we sat down for some quick fire Qs... check back to the site this week for our report on the gig!
You're playing this Converse Represent show with Paul Weller and Spiritualized, is this you getting pretty close to some heroes?
Sharing the stage with these two artists is incredible, still not really sunk in yet. Baring in mind, our show last week was in a small local pub in Weston-super-Mare to friends and family. It's quite surreal to be on the same bill as bands who were some of the earliest inspiration when you start learning guitar, learning the chords to The Jam in your bedroom. We all went to see Spiritualized in Bristol a few months ago and they're a huge influence, we've had Ladies and Gentlemen in the car in-between tour dates.
The past year for you guys must've been pretty exciting, where do you see this all going, headlining your own Represent show one day?
Feels like so much has happened in only a year, we were still finding our feet last summer and I like to think we've come a long way since then. We're focusing on building from the ground up and we are still earning our stripes so it’s hard to say what the future holds.
Artrocker hears you're recording some new material, what should be expect?
We’re recording with Rory Attwell next week and hoping to come out with an EP. It will be all new songs that haven’t been heard by many people and it should be out October when we’ll be touring again.
One tip for new bands as a new band doing cool things, what's it going to be?
Get used to sleeping in uncomfortable places.
