Southsea Fest Preview + CompThis Saturday see’s a wave of bands descend on the Southsea area of Portsmouth for the 2012 edition of the now annual Southsea fest. Artrocker’s New Blood editor Nathan Westley takes a quick look at five bands who should be vying for your attention:

And scroll all the way to the bottom to be in with a chance of a last minute trip to the indie coast!

Bo Ningen
It is no secret that us here at Artrocker are big fans of crazy nu-psych band Bo Ningen. Held by many as being one of the best live bands in the country, Bo Ningen’s set should prove to be an unmissable experience.

Fear Of Men
Having won praise from both Pitchfork and The Fader, dream pop quartet Fear of Men have been getting pulses quickening on both sides of the Atlantic. New single ‘Mosaic’ comes out on Too Pure records in October.

Paws
Scottish indie types Paws with their lo-fi American fused guitar pop that swings between sounding like the Archers Of Loaf and Dinosaur Jr. at their most driven All in all they offer good evidence against anyone who argues that guitar based music may be on the way out.

Dingus Khan
Stomping rock ‘ n’ rollers Dingus Khan recently played the Introducing stage at both Reading & Leeds. Having won praise from indie taste-making legend Steve Lamacq, this Stourbridge eight piece made up of three drummers, three bass players and one Ukulele player are unlike anything else you will see.

Gem & The Deadheads
These guys create a classic dirty ended rock ‘n’ roll sound that is touched with a spirit that will seduce lovers of Tarantino soundtracks at 100 yards.

Black Moth
The New Heavy Sounds lot released their debut LP 'The Killing Jar' earlier this year to mach hurrah from the rock community, and a lot of girly screams and whimpers from everyone else.
