From the debut album ‘Cut’, these girls knew how to rock.

A corker of a track from the band’s debut album, ‘Entertainment’.

Originally released as the b-side to 1984 single ‘William, It Was Really Nothing’, the track also appeared on the band’s second album ‘Meat Is Murder’ in 1985 and was released as a single, reaching number 24 in the charts.

47. Weekends and Bleak Days (Hot Summer) (2005) – (The) Young Knives
Originally the lead track on the ‘Junky Music Make My Heart Beat Faster’ EP, the song got its own independent release as a single from the band’s full debut album, ‘Voices of Animals and Men’, in 2006.

46. Mind Your Own Business (1979) - Delta 5
Important figures in the Rock Against Racism movement, this track is the debut single from Leeds’ greatest ever post-punk band.

44. She's Lost Control (1979/1980) - Joy Division
Two entries in one here as Joy Division gave as the guitar dominated original version on debut album, ‘Unknown Pleasures’, and the subsequent heavy and more electronic ditty in 1980, which was released as a 12” single with ‘Atmosphere’.

43. Molly’s Chambers (2003) - Kings of Leon
From the ‘Holy Roller Novocaine EP’ before they became international, Grammy Award winning mega rockstars, this lil ole band from Nashville blew our minds with the best and most original white boy blues in many a year.

From ‘A Different Class’, the album title certainly described Pulp’s standing amongst their Britpop contemporaries. Pure class.
