The HorrorsBy now the difference is being felt. It's interesting to note that there's only one USA act here, and that's Gnarls Barkely. It's plain to see that the lessons we needed to learn have sunk in, The Strokes and White Stripes have kicked the UK scene up the arse and, with the help of their big-booted aide-memoir we've rediscovered the joy of Pop. UK Hip Hop is on the rise, albeit briefly, and Artrock is the sound of the day courtesy of Futureheads, Maximo Park, Franz Ferdinand, Arctic Monkeys and a great wave of new British talent.

Part One - 2000/2003
Part Two - 2004

Maximo Park - Apply Some Pressure (2005)
It made you smile, and jump, and twitch

Futureheads - Hounds Of Love (2005)
I bet they wish they'd never made this cover VERSION, it's their albatross

Art Brut - Formed A Band (2005)
The birth of something very special

Tom Vek - C-C (You Set The Fire In Me) (2005)
Where are you Tom? We need you

Arctic Monkeys - Fake Tales Of San Fransisco (2005)
Proving that once upon a time they really were original

The Cribs - Hey Scenester (2005)
More Frog memories

The Long Blondes - Separated By Motorways (2005)
As Brummie I could relate to this, I was surrounded by motorways on all sides

Clor - Love and Pain (2005)
One of the greatest tracks of all time?

Marvin The Martian - Hate My Job (2006)
Nowadays he's Marvin The Human, the visa came through and he can stay on the planet

Gnarls Barkely - Crazy (2006)
Still that voice makes me purr

The Horrors - Sheena is Parasite (2006)
Back to the garage

Blood Red Shoes - ADHD (2006)
Do pay attention!
