Unwrapped: Tweak Bird - A Sun / Ahh Ahh

Heavy rocking brotherly duo Tweak Bird explain the apocalyptic origins of their recent single...

Filed in Tweak Bird, Features, at 12.31pm on 02 November 10

Tweak BirdCALEB: The origin was a guitar riff with the drums - we were playing in the basement of a punk house in our town, just rehearsing, trying to squeeze in some writing. We came up with that riff then Ashton came up with the vocal line over it...

ASHTON: I think you had a bunch of words which were pretty much to a love song... so I said 'I love it!'

ARTROCKER: So it's a love song?

ASHTON: No man, that song is about how the sun is going to burn out and everybody's going to die! And that's true - it's a big ball 'a gas, and it can't burn forever. Most of our songs probably are pretty much about the world ending in some way or another, or what will lead to the world's destruction. You know, but we're happy people!

ARTROCKER: Is the world ending something you can imagine happening imminently?

ASHTON: Yeah, I guess so! Is that not normal? (laughs) I guess part of it is being environmentally conscious, and also being a bit of a conspiracy theorist I guess. But yeah man, I feel like something drastic's gonna happen - all the time.
