Young Knives Tour Diary: Part Seven

Young KnivesOxford. Yay! 24th May

After an awesome night's sleep in my own bed the day of our home coming gig is here. We haven't played a big gig in our fair city for a couple of years and we're a bit apprehensive to say the least. If we played a bad one in front of fans, friends and family here we wouldn't live it down.

An Atomic Burger (on Cowley Road - free burgers from now onwards please) washed down with a few beers settles the nerves. Meanwhile, back at the venue, Henry and Martin's (soundman extraordinaire) game of Frisbee goes badly after an 'illegal' foot catch smashes it into four million pieces. If we find another toy shop on this tour, a better purchase might be one of those little rubber balls. Get one of those bouncing around a large venue during soundcheck and you're laughing.

The Neat were amazing as always but this only adds to the pre gig stress. We shouldn't have worried though as we SMASHED IT. The new songs all seemed to go down well with a bit of sporadic moshing in the crowd. Nice.

Sweaty pants changed it was off to one Oxford's late night drinking haunts - the Hi Lo, for some four quid cans of red stripe. Actually, I'm lying I didn't go. I wimped out and went home while the House of Lords bravely battled on and got drunk with the Neat lads.
