Underage Festival @ Victoria Park, London
Artrocker sent its intrepid team of teens, Sophie, Stevie & Rachel, to give us a VIP report from this year’s Underage Festival.
Our first impression of the festival was a lively atmosphere with a spacious environment consisting of many tents in which an array of music was performed. The different tents acts were constantly on stage ensuring the crowd were never left in boredom.
We were lucky enough to be part of the underage media which permitted us to go backstage to the hospitality area where we could meet the artists. Ellie Goulding opened the festival with an engaging performance setting the atmosphere for the day; this meant she was backstage all day giving us the chance to meet her. Ellie was a friendly character who told us “I am really enjoying the festival” and also told us to have a nice day.
We were fortunate enough to interview Erik Hassle after he had performed his first ever acoustic set. He told us he was loving the festival, and is sad that the festival season is coming to an end. At the end of this year Erik is releasing an acoustic album with his co-worker victor and played one of his new songs ‘Nothing Can Change This Love’.
We also interviewed Dev Hynes from the popular band Lightspeed Champion. Dev was enthusiastic and told us the festival season was really good, although only performing at underage and another festival on the 2nd August. Dev is releasing new music at the end of the year under a different name; the album is called ‘Blood Orange’.
One band that kept their audience on their feet the whole time was Hadouken! whose performance was memorable and a crowd pleaser. Personally we found the band exciting and a great experience to have seen them live, despite the hot atmosphere in the crowd.
Other artists we enjoyed seeing from each stage were Darwin Deez, Tinie Tempah, M.I.A and Chiddy Bang on the Tango Stage. Fugative, Twizzle and Tinchy Stryder on the Converse/Annie Mac stage. Proffessor Green and Late Of The Pier on the Topman Ctrl Stage. Heights and Sacred Betrayal on the Redbull stage, and Daisy Dares You on the youth music stage.
Overall the day was a great experience and we recommend the festival to all within the age limit.
