DOWNLOAD: Crushing Blows EP
Derbyshire duo give us an exclusive download of their first EP and a sneak peek at their next!
Crushing Blows have kindly given us their first EP as a free download!
Combining jaunty math rock with grungey 80s references and Battles-esque electro noise, they've managed to win over a host of radio fans, and it's not surprising. This EP contains enough variation to keep the busiest of ears occupied.
It's due out November 12 via Super Heavy Weight Records, in the mean time, listen to the EP below and read some words from the band on the EP itself!
"The EP is a collection of three different recording sessions. Tie Them Down and Get The Answers was a download only single that we recorded in June/July 2010, it was our first proper recording (all previous songs were home-recorded!) Liberate Yourself was recorded a couple of months after as a stop gap for our Bandcamp page.
The songs Nightworker & Don't Sweat For Me were recorded in a weekend in December when we realised it would make sense to compile the other recordings to make an EP. Liberate Yourself was the first song we wrote as 2 piece with the view of actually playing it live. Before then everything we wrote had been done without considering how we’d pull it off live. Eventually we got to a point where we wanted to gig and we realised getting more people on board to play with us would be harder than we first thought.
Looking back there are plenty of things we’d do differently but as a first EP it is something that we’re proud of. We’re not too bothered about looking back though, we’re only interested in what’s coming next."
