Beck to produce Philip Glass remix album
Collection of electronic musicians to pay tribute for the composer's 75th birthday
To celebrate the acclaimed modern composer Philip Glass's 75th birthday (31 January next year), some of the world's finest electronic musicians will contribute to a new remix album of some of his greatest works.
Produced by Beck, the compilation will include contributions from artists such as Memory Tapes, Amon Tobin, Cornelius, and former Battles frontman Tyondai Braxton.
Philip Glass has been remixed several times before, including Aphex Twin's version of Glass' own reinterpretation of David Bowie's 'Heroes', entitled 'Seasick Ecstasy'.
The minimalist composer has also been sampled on hip-hop tracks such as Jay-Z's 'Rap Game/Crack Game', and several tracks by Harlem duo Cannibal Ox.
