DJ Premier speaks on the media coverage of partner Guru’s death

DJ Premier and Guru had a very shaky relationship towards the end. Very shaky might be putting it mildly actually, Guru maintained a loathing that most attributed to a pretty poisonous friend in Solar [I met them both last year, there was something not right about Solar, something not right at all]. DJ Premier though, kept open the door to reconciliation, constantly reassuring Gangstarr fans through interviews, blogs and appearances that he loved and respected Guru whatever Guru said.

DJ Premier took to his official website yesterday to discuss the coverage or lack there of, from the hip-hop media of Guru's life. The blog came in response to the leak of a brand new Fat Joe song 'I'm Gone' which was produced by Preemo and recorded the day of Guru's passing.

Written in capitals so you know it was important, DJ Premier wrote:

"THIS JOINT WAS MADE THE DAY THE GREAT GURU OF GANG STARR RETURNED TO THE ESSENCE ON APRIL 19, 2010…..IT’S SAD THAT ALL OF THE SO-CALLED HIP HOP MAGAZINES DID NOT GIVE HIM A WELL DESERVED COVER WHEN MOST MC’S OUT NOW CANNOT CONSTRUCT RHYMES, FLOWS AND UNIQUENESS AND ORIGINAL CONTRIBUTIONS LIKE HE DID FOR 22 YEARS REPRESENTING THE CULTURE……WE ARE ALWAYS WATCHING WHAT THE INDUSTRY DOES TO PAY HOMAGE AND RESPECT TO OUR LEADERS OF THIS RAP SHIT…..I WILL NEVER FORGET IT AND THERE IS NO EXCUSE…….B.E.T.
