Dot To Dot Festival unveils first acts for 2010
Mystery Jets, Blood Red Shoes, Los Campesinos! and Zane Lowe confirmed for Dot To Dot 2010
Having expanded to a three-day event, adding Manchester’s musical heritage to the firmly established Bristol and Nottingham dates, Dot To Dot Festival has unveiled the first acts from their fifth line-up, taking place over the last bank holiday in May [Bristol Sat 29th, Notts Sun 30th, Manchester Mon 31st].
The first act to be unveiled for this year's festivities are Mystery Jets. With a brand new album due out on Rough Trade imminently, the Mystery Jets’ trio of appearances will be one of the first opportunities to catch brand new material as well as enjoy some of their lauded back catalogue, including ‘The Boy Who Ran Away’ and ‘Two Doors Down’.
BBC Sound of 2010 and Critics’ Choice BRIT Award winner Ellie Goulding will showcase the cut-up folktronic-pop that has caused such a sensation at both the Bristol and Nottingham dates and BBC Radio 1’s arbiter of all that is cool, Zane Lowe will be bringing his not inconsiderable taste to proceedings.
Irrepressible Cardiff 7-piece Los Campesinos! are confirmed for the 3-day, 3-city event, delivering the sort of frenetic stomp that can’t fail to get the crowd jumping and exalted dream-pop duo Beach House, whose third album ‘Teen Dream’ has catapulted them firmly into the limelight, will be leaving Baltimore behind to make appearances at the Nottingham and Manchester dates this year.
Mancunian three-piece rockers Twisted Wheel will demonstrate their anthemic credentials, American art-punk trio Liars visceral assault is set to stun and Blood Red Shoes whose second album ‘Fire Like This’ is currently earning them plaudits by the bucket-load will all be touring the triumvirate of towns. Others acts confirmed to appear include woozy synth-pop from Ernest Greene aka Washed Out, Manchester’s brightest new hopes Egyptian Hip Hop, dubstep tour de force Jakwob the much-admired and widely tipped Chapel Club, teen-pop queen Daisy Dares You, Warp Records’ and Manchester-bred femme fatale Lonelady and Ibiza Rocks resident and pigeon hole refusenik Doorly.
With a deserved reputation as a festival that showcases the freshest bands around, Dot To Dot are proud to have teamed up with Fred Perry SUBCULTURE, the on-line home of all Fred Perry’s music activity globally, for this year’s event. With a proud and unrivalled music heritage Fred Perry’s support for new music talent makes them a perfect partner for Dot To Dot. Fred Perry will also be bringing their unique "Fred Perry Table Tennis Club" to Dot To Dot giving customers and bands alike the chance to work on their forehand loops and backhand chops.
