Dr Dre promises ‘Detox’ this year

Dr Dre 'Under Pressure' with new album and single announcements...

Dr Dre'Chinese Democracy' came out last year. Was it last year? It might have been 2008 actually. Who cares? Either way, we had to wait a really, really long time for it. Well, not "we" so much as, "they". "They" being Guns N Roses fans, I don't care to speculate what a Guns N Roses fan in 2008 may have looked like as I don't want to offend.

My point being, the only other album the world has been forced to wait an inordinate length of time for is Dr Dre's 'Detox'. The follow-up to his massively successful comeback album '2001' which was, in a rather intriguing twist, released, in 1999. Dre announced 'Detox' as the follow-up to '2001' shortly after the album's release and despite several false-dawns the album has never materialised.

Rumblings from the machine where they make rappers akin to the monsters from Space Jam (aka Interscope) had indicated that a first single from the mythical album may be set to emerge, featuring none-other than the world's richest rapper Jay-Z (get salivating right?) then it was passed off as an April Fools joke (a pretty good one all things considered) but no! Interscope boss Jimmy Iovine says the song does exist and that the song will indeed by the first single from 'Detox'.

The song is reportedly called 'Under Pressure' and hopefully does not sample the obvious. Oh god could you imagine? Well Dre also told CNBC yesterday (in an interview about his insanely over-priced headphones 'Beats By Dre') that 'Under Pressure' would be released in the next couple of weeks and that 'Detox' would indeed see the light of day this calendar year.

I can't flipping wait.
