Electric Light Orchestra poised for comeback?

Electric Light Ochestra to make a 40th anniversary comeback? Awesome.

Electric Light OrchestraElectric Light Orchestra were awesome. If Electric Light Orchestra were a band of the now age they'd easily be the most revered and respected by a mile. A mile's not long enough...two miles. Good news for me then as rumours begin to swirl about a potential ELO comeback!

Jeff Lynne's Brummie legends sold over 50 million albums in their day but were looked down upon by your 70s punky journo types. How dare they? They got a bad rap because they had beards and were rather extravagant. There were people to hate in that era but ELO were not them.

Remarkably, rumours of the potential comeback were sparked by Neil Hannon who, after performing a set as The Duckworth Lewis Method at Richard Thompson's Meltdown on Thursday, from stage, told Melvyn Gale, ELO's cellist up to 1979, that the Duckworth album could not have been made without ELO, before revealing that a new ELO album was in the works. Great story.

ELO's website offers this hint “There will be exciting announcements coming over the next few months as we celebrate ELO’s 40th Anniversary…”
