File on Keith Richards’ 1973 drugs bust released
National Archive files reveal that the Rolling Stone was found in bed by raiding coppers
Details of the notorious 1973 drugs bust of Keith Richards have been released by the National Archive files.
According to the report, when the police swooped in on The Rolling Stones' guitarist, he was in bed with his "common-law wife and housewife" Anita Pallenberg.
The incident saw Richards' accused of 25 charges, following the police's discovery of marijuana, heroin, cannabis resin, mandrax tablets, pipes as well as a revolver, shotgun and ammunition.
Richards' accused the police of a "stitch up" and walked with a £250 fine.
The report reveals that the guitarist tried to hide burnt spoons - evidence of heroin - by stirring them in a mug of tea.
