The Flaming Lips will be spending New Year’s with Yoko Ono

As part of a special show in their hometown.

The Flaming Lips Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne has tweeted that his band will perform two shows to bring in the New Year at the Bricktown Events Center in their hometown of Oklahoma City on December 31st, 2011 and January 1, 2012.

These shows will constitute the Lips' fifth annual 'New Year's Freakout', and they'll be joined by special guests Yoko Ono and her 'Plastic Ono Band'.

Fans attending can no doubt expect balloons, confetti, and the usual pyrotechnics/lasers etc (and Wayne Coyne's giant man-bubble).
