Flaming Lips to deliver ‘Yoshimi the musical’

Wayne and his band of interstellar travellers are taking on musical theatre

The Flaming Lips are planning a theatrical production of their 2002 album Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots.

"It'll be a big chunk of Flaming Lips music, probably about 30 songs," Wayne Coyne told Billboard. "It's hokey and wonderful and poignant and powerful. It's really become a perfect combination of my fantastical robot-world vision and [director Des McAnuff's] little, internal, humanistic version of what that music is."

The Flaming Lips play the Eden Project in Cornwall on 30 June.
