Former ITV boss takes control of EMI’s music business
It's look distinctly rough over at EMI isn't it?
EMI have come up with another headline grabbing executive move that they hope will contribute to the saving of the industry goliath.
Former ITV boss Charles Allen will take control of EMI's music business, after the surprise departure of chief executive Elio Leoni-Sceti. Leoni-Sceti will leave EMI at the end of March having survived in the post for just 18 months.
Allen's previous experience at ITV, which he created by merging Granada with Carlton Communications, is likely to increase speculation that EMI is being lined up for a merger with Warner Music.
[by the way, people ask why we use a Pirate flag for industry news. It's because there really isn't any industry news that doesn't come back to piracy at some stage. Except this story, which is about ineptitude. Ineptitude reminiscent of a bumbling drunkard pirate even? Pirate flag stays!]
