Gil Scott-Heron set to open this year’s Liverpool Sound City

American poet, musician and author, Gil Scott-Heron has announced a rare UK show, with a date at Liverpool’s Philharmonic Hall opening this year’s Liverpool Sound City music festival.

Gil Scott Heron's latest album 'I'm New Here' was released through XL Recordings last week to mass critical acclaim including a 5/5 review from us.

Liverpool Sound City Director, Dave Pichilingi said: 'We are absolutely delighted to be bringing such a legend to Liverpool and it is wonderful to be able to work with the Philharmonic Hall on such a special event.
