Hot Club de Paris confirm EP with title too long for this news bar release date
The Rise and Inevitable Fall of the High School Suicide Cluster Band will be released May 24th
Hot Club de Paris marked their return with a brand-new EP With Days Like This As Cheap As Chewing Gum, Why Would Anyone Want To Work? in February. As promised, here is the second EP from their prolific stint of going back to basics, concentrating on writing, recording and self=-producing a plethora of simply ace DIY British punk pop.
‘The Rise and Inevitable Fall of the High School Suicide Cluster Band’ captures the Hot Club’s admiration of independent experimental American indie rock and the band’s undying love of classic British rock. Referencing bands such as The Who, early Queen and Led Zeppelin as well as delivering the usual nods towards Joan of Arc, The Minutemen and Pavement, The Rise and Fall… charts an exciting development in the band’s sound.
Lead single Free The Pterodactyl 3 is a slow and wistful jam about singer and baritone guitarist Paul Rafferty’s scrape with the law whilst attempting the liberation of a 3 metre fibreglass Pterodactyl from a derelict fun fair with a couple of friends.
Like its predecessor, the E.P is available on both download and a super-limited hand-numbered, self artworked 10” vinyl. Unlike its predecessor it has the indisputable pleasure of being adorned with the monumental catalogue number of MOSHI100. This is history, kids.
Having had unfettered support form one of the UK’s most respected indie labels since the bands debut release in 2006, Hot Club de Paris are helping Moshi Moshi celebrate the occasion by performing at Pure Groove on May 24. In addition to this, Moshi are making 5 super special gold discs that will be distributed randomly to stores. Whoever is lucky enough to receive such a wonka-esque win, will be awarded a lifetime supply of Moshi Moshi releases via their new download subscription service.

This, the second EP will lead them into a second full UK tour (dates below) and into the summer festivals. A new full album from the band (following on from their 2006 debut ‘Drop it ‘til it Pops’ and 2008’s Live At Dead Lake’) is expected by the end of the year.
