Lil Wayne finally beings one-year prison sentence

Rapper Lil Wayne finally began a one-year jail sentence today for pleading guilty to gun possession after a series of delays kept him out.

Weezy was arrested in July 2007 when a loaded .40-calibre semi-automatic gun was found on his tour bus. He admitted the offence in October but his sentencing, scheduled for February, was postponed while the rapper had surgery on his teeth. There was a further delay when the court Wayne was due to be sentenced in was evacuated due to a fire. Leaving the rapper the time to perform with Jay-Z and Young Jeezy at Madison Square Garden that night.

He finally received sentencing yesterday and arrived at Rikers Island today. He will be held apart from general population (or gen-pop) because he's Lil Wayne. In Hollywood it's Little Wayne.
