London street to throw David Bowie ‘Ziggy’ celebrations
Heddon Street was the photographic location for the cover of the iconic, 40 year old album
David Bowie fans may wish to visit Heddon Street in London on 6 June.
The street is set for some Ziggy Stardust themed anniversary celebrations, due to the fact that the album cover of The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars was photographed there - and the album turns 40 years old on the 6th.
A Bowie covers artist will lead the celebrations with two 50 minute sets (one of Ziggy, the second a more varied Bowie set) kicking off at 7pm, while venues The Living Room, The Ice Bar, tibits, Strawberry Moons, Strada and Aubaine will go Bowie themed for the night.
Speaking of the night they photographed the cover, Bowie himself has been known to say: “It was cold and it rained and I felt like an actor," adding "we did the photographs outside on a rainy night and then upstairs in the studio we did the Clockwork Orange look-a-likes that became the inner album sleeve.”
