Pro Green attacks EMI
Urban pop music man takes a hit on label
Professor Green took to Twitter yesterday to attack his label's owners, EMI. The Virgin man asked "Why would your own record label hinder you? How would you feel if a company taking 25% of your earnings weren't doing their jobs properly?" According to reports the label missed music video distribution deadlines and bodged the marketing on his recent single.
Professor Green is apparently in a 360 deal with the label, a set up which has most famously been used by Live Nation with the likes of Madonna. "A live gig = 10% to agent, costs and expenses, 20% management commission then 25% to a label who hardly even come to gigs let alone help".
After EMI posted a £349 million loss after the sale of publishing and recordings. The Prof went on the heckle: "If everyone at EMI is quaking in their shoes about their jobs because of the Universal situ, why not do your jobs properly? Simple solution?"
