Roots Manuva turns ‘Duppy Writer’ on new album
Duppy means Ghost. So the album is called Ghost Writer. But it's not ghost written. It's ghost remixed...
Roots Manuva has had select hits from his previous four albums remixed and re-imagined by dub producer Wrong Tom.
Wrong Tom first came to attention when he remixed Roots Manuva's 'Buff Nuff' (the first single from Roots' last album 'Slime & Reason'). Wrong Tom then remixed the whole 'Slime & Reason' album which ended up being a bonus disc on the limited edition re-release.
Tom has now been allowed into the Roots vault and has created a whole new remixed album using tracks from all of the rapper's four albums as well as an original collaboration with Roots Manuva and Ricky Ranking 'Jah Warriors' being released as the album's first single.
The artwork for 'Duppy Writer' has been designed by the legendary Tony McDermott (who was responsible for the illustrations on Greensleeves classics by the likes of Scientist, Mad Professor and the famous “Carnival of Reggae” 12” sleeve).
'Duppy Writer' will be released September 6th by Big Dada Records.
