The Flaming Lips to encase 24-hour song in human skulls
Another glorious gimmick
Fresh from the release of their six-hour song "Found a Star on the Ground" for charity, The Flaming Lips have announced that they will record a 24-hour track and encase five of the recordings (placed on hard drives) in human skulls, purchased from their local Skulls Unlimited emporium in Oklahoma City.
Frontman Wayne Coyne says the song is a work-in-progress, but apparently "it's a song about death and it's a song about fucking and it's a song about life." Fair enough.
The currently untitled track is appropriately scheduled for release at midnight on Halloween. No news about a new album as yet however.
