The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys nominated for MTV Europe awards
The nominations are in! And most of them look pretty horrible

The MTV Europe Awards nominations are in, and despite casual glances towards Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes, it's clearly a pretty dire year in the rock department.
The nominations for Best Rock Act, for example, are Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Linkin Park, Kings Of Leon and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Phew! Imaginative list, huh?
Best Hip Hop nominees go to Eminem, (what year is this?) Lil Wayne, Jay-Z & Kanye West, Pitbull and Snoop Dogg.
Meanwhile Britney Spears is nominated for best Pop Act (no seriously, WHAT YEAR IS THIS?!) while the most credible category seems to be Best Alternative Act, for which Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys, My Chemical Romance, The Strokes and (cough cough) 30 Seconds To Mars are nominated.
