Tributes come in for Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch
The founding member of the NYC trio has died aged 47
The Beastie Boys official website beastieboys.com confirmed this morning that Adam Yauch has died aged 47.
In the opening paragraph of their tribute, the site reads:
"It is with great sadness that we confirm that musician, rapper, activist and director Adam "MCA" Yauch, founding member of Beastie Boys and also of the Milarepa Foundation that produced the Tibetan Freedom Concert benefits, and film production and distribution company Oscilloscope Laboratories, passed away in his native New York City this morning after a near-three-year battle with cancer. He was 47 years old."
Tributes on Twitter and elsewhere have included the rapper Q Tip:
"RIP yauch and thank u mike and adam n adam 4 all of your help, the tours, the bball games, n great times. a humanitarian a tru friend"
