Yoko Ono moved by Australian X Factor performance
The avant garde legend gets behind a contestant's cover of 'Imagine'
Yoko Ono has given her encouragement to a singer on the Australian version of the X Factor, after they performed a cover of the John Lennon standard 'Imagine'.
The cover was given extra resonance by the back story of the contestant singing it: Emmanuel Kelly was born in Iraq with missing limbs as an apparent result of chemical warfare, before being abandoned in a box in a park. Kelly was later adopted in Australia.
Said Yoko Ono on her website imaginepeace.com:
"Thank you, Emmanuel. You sang beautifully! Thank you. John would have been proud of you. Thank you, thank you, thank you".
