Doobie on a Golf course
Tom Artrocker explores the nicer side of golf...
Artrockers...
Firstly, many thanks for the fabulous response to last week's mailout survey about what makes a good music website - even now teams of Artrocker researchers are working into the night to collate the results. When I have them I'll pass them on. Opinionated lot aren't you? Lovely, we wouldn't want it any other way.
Tomorrow sees the publication of the latest Artrocker Magazine, look out for The Futureheads on the cover playing golf. Yes, I did say 'playing golf'. Of course this isn't the first time we've dragged a band around a golf course, we did the same with Good Shoes a few years back. So what's the appeal? Is it the jumpers featuring every colour of the rainbow? Maybe it's the trousers? Or maybe we like getting out of the office every few years and saying: 'Hello birds, hello sky.' The truth is more prosaic - we like golf, largely because it's one of the few games you can play while swigging from a hip-flask and pulling on a doobie - how many sports can you say that about? You can't smoke a ciggie at a gig but you can blow a doobie on a golf course (with a few precautions of course) - that makes golf more rock'n'roll than rock'n'roll...God almighty, how did we come to this?
