New Year Thoughts

Tom Artrocker ponders his Christmas break...

Artrockers,
some post - yule musings;

Toy Story 3 DVD. I was very excited to receive this gift having failed to see it in the cinema because I hate cinemas. This is the film that makes grown men cry...apparently. Maybe I have a problem with my lachrymal glands cos the only thing that got me going was the fact that I felt ripped off. Take some out-takes from 1 and 2, team them with essentially the same plot (toys become separated from owner), add a teddy bear who seems nice but isn't, exactly like the old timer in 2 and what you have is a rehash of two really good films. Cry? A laugh would have been nice.

TV Schedules. If folks are turning away from the telly and watching stuff on 'devices' it has nothing to do with the 'devices' and everything to do with scheduling. They are a mess, worst offender being The Beeb. What's all that business about repeating a program 3, 4, or even 5 times in a week? It's nuts! 'Ah!', you think, 'The next episode of (add program name here), excellent! I'll get a cuppa and see what's occurring.' But, sad to say, it's the one you watched last Friday. This happens a couple of times, then you give up and dust off your 'device'.

Noel Fielding. Somebody needs to tell Noel that it isn't 2006 anymore and that slightly older and paunchier guys really don't rock the rock-goth makeup, tight trousers and raven black hair dye look too well, in fact they look like silly sods stuck in 2006. Move on Noel, it's embarrassing. Learn a bit about style and grace from your former partner, get some elbow patches.

Holiday music shows. Were there any? Worth watching I mean?

Snow. Was I alone in enjoying the site of folks stuck at airports and queuing round the block for Eurostar? Ah, was your holiday in The Bahamas canceled? Shame.

The Archers. OK, letting my R'n'R credentials slip here, but it would have been a wonderful New Year gift had it been Elizabeth falling off that roof rather than Nigel.

I'm sure you all agree. No? You'd better let me know why not then.
